Desktop Only

Screen recording is available on desktop browsers. Try our other tools that work on all devices:

Screen Recorder

Record your screen, window, or tab with optional audio.

Online Screen Recorder

A free, browser-based screen recorder with a built-in video editor. Record your screen, window, or browser tab in HD quality, then trim and download — all without installing anything.

Your recordings stay on your device. Video is captured and processed entirely in your browser using the MediaRecorder API. Nothing is uploaded, streamed, or stored on any server.

Features

HD Recording

Record at up to 8 Mbps video quality. Saves as MP4 (H.264) when supported, with WebM fallback for full browser compatibility.

Microphone Audio

Optionally capture microphone audio alongside your screen recording — perfect for narrations, tutorials, and presentations.

Adjust playback volume and mute toggle in the built-in editor. Preview your recording with full audio control before downloading.

How to Use

Start Recording

Click "Start Recording" and select what to share — your entire screen, a specific window, or a browser tab.

Stop & Edit

Click "Stop Recording" when done. If the editor is enabled, your recording opens in the built-in video editor with a filmstrip timeline.

Drag the trim handles to select the portion you want, then click "Trim & Download" for the trimmed clip, or "Download" for the full recording.

Frequently Asked Questions

What format is the recording saved in?
The recorder saves in MP4 (H.264 codec) when your browser supports it, which is compatible with virtually all devices and video players. If MP4 is not supported, it falls back to WebM format.
Can I record system audio?
Yes, if your browser and operating system support it. When you select a screen or tab to share, you may see a "Share audio" checkbox. System audio capture works best in Chrome when recording a browser tab.
Is there a recording time limit?
No. You can record for as long as you need. The recording is stored in your browser's memory, so the only limit is your device's available RAM. For very long recordings (1+ hour), ensure you have sufficient memory.
Does my recording get uploaded anywhere?
No. The entire recording stays in your browser's memory and is never transmitted to any server. When you download the file, it saves directly to your device. Nothing leaves your computer.
